Using PATI during a seizure event

Follow these steps to properly use PATI and protect against oral trauma during a seizure.

Recognize the Signs
Watch for common seizure warning signs: sudden confusion, staring, uncontrollable jerking movements, or loss of consciousness.
Tip: Many people experience an 'aura' or warning sensation before a seizure begins.

Open the PATI Package
Tear open the sterile pouch along the indicated line. Each PATI® device is individually sealed for hygiene and safety.

Tip: Keep PATI accessible — in your bag, nightstand, or first aid kit.

Position the Device
Using the handles gently place PATI into the mouth, with the curved side facing inward toward the tongue. Do not force the mouth open.
Tip: Only insert PATI® if the mouth is accessible. Never force entry.

Protection Activates
PATI immediately begins protecting the tongue and oral tissues from bite trauma while maintaining an open airway throughout the seizure.
Tip: The patented design absorbs bite force and prevents tongue injury.

Monitor & Support
Stay with the person, keep them safe from nearby hazards, and time the seizure. Do not restrain movement or put anything else in the mouth.
Tip: Most seizures end on their own within 2-3 minutes.

Post-Seizure Care
Once the seizure ends, gently remove PATI. Dispose of the used device properly. Seek medical help if needed.
Tip: Call 911 if the seizure lasts more than 5 minutes or if it's their first seizure.
